Title: Quantum Imaging
Speaker: Dott. Marco Genovese - Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (INRiM) - Torino
Abstract
In the last years the specific properties of quantum states (as entanglement), for long time considered as peculiarities discussed by the restricted community of physicists interested in the foundations of quantum mechanics, became a fundamental resource for the development of new technologies (as quantum communication, computation and imaging), collectively dubbed “quantum technologies”. The new possibilities in imaging offered by quantum measurements will be introduced and, in particular, those related to photon number correlated states. For instance, ghost imaging to imaging in turbulent or diffusive media or in cryogenic situations, or sub shot noise imaging relevant for biological/medical applications.

Local Organization
The seminar of Dr. Genovese is a stand-alone event organized within the "NQSTI-Spoke 7- Complete Quantum System" in which the University of Bari has a leading activity in quantum imaging. The event is organized by prof. Milena D’angelo (NQSTI spokes 7, 8) and prof. Saverio Pascazio (NQSTI local representative).
